Product Overview

This Premium Heavy Duty Red EPDM Steel Steam Hose is designed for use with saturated and superheated steam, withstanding temperatures up to 203°C. It is constructed from a special EPDM compound, providing outstanding resistance to temperature, UV, and ozone exposure. The cover is pin-pricked, specifically engineered for steam applications.

Key Features

  • Pressure Rating: 17 Bar
  • Temperature Resistance: Up to 203°C
  • Material: EPDM with high tensile steel wire braiding
  • Compliance: Meets British Standard BS 5342 Type 2

Applications

This steam hose is widely used in various industries including Oil & Gas, Petrochemical Plants, and Refineries, suitable for all superheated steam applications.

Installation Instructions

It is crucial that the hose is fitted using dedicated Boss type steam fittings or flanges. These fittings must include safety retaining collars that accommodate a specially designed Boss type interlocking bolted clamp.

Important Safety Note: Swaging of the hose is not recommended under any circumstances. Always ensure that clamps are checked before use to confirm that torque values are correct. Inspect clamps for any damage to nuts, bolts, or castings, and replace any damaged components immediately.

Usage Guidelines

Steam clamps are designated for single-use only and should not be reused, as they are designed to deform to fit the outside of the hose. Re-torquing used clamps may cause stress fractures and potential clamp failure.

After use, always drain the hose completely. Failure to do so may lead to significant damage to the hose liner due to steam condensate when re-energized, known as the ‘popcorn’ effect.
